The arenas are part of a Player-versus-player(PvP) system implemented in World of Warcraft after it was first released. This system offers a more competitive and rank-based experience with the sole objective of having two pre-organized teams of two, three, or five players fight against each other until everyone on one team is defeated. Teams have a rating that changes based on wins and losses. This rating is also used to automatically choose teams of similar strength to pit against each other...
